Magic House was opened to the public in 1979 in a 5,500-square-foot Victorian quaint mansion located in the population center of the St. Louis area. Created by two volunteers, Barbie Freund and Jody Newman, this non-profit museum is the first participatory museum designed entirely for children. Over the years, this magical house has evolved from a small local museum to one of the nation's most famous museums. After several major expansions, the museum now houses 55,000 square feet of exhibits and receives more than 600,000 visitors a year.
