The society for personality and social psychology, founded in 1974, is the world's largest organization of social and personality psychologists. With more than 7,500 members, the promotes the science, teaching and application of social and personality psychology. The core focus is to serve its members through educational activities, networking opportunities, resources, science funding, the publication and promotion of research, and mentoring the next generation of social and personality psychologists. The following strategic plan was developed in 2017 by a task force chaired by Richard Petty. The following missions, values, objectives and objectives are of current concern to SPSP and were approved in May 2017. The mission of SPSP is to promote the science, teaching and application of social and personality psychology. The members desire to understand individuals in their own social environment for the benefit of all.
