After immigrating from St. Elia in Sicily to Milwaukee, Sendiks founders began to sell quality fruits and vegetables in horse-drawn carriages. In 1949, the grandfather Tom Ballistry, who was simply and affectionately known as "Mr." in Sentik, opened the third Sundick fruit and vegetable at the corner of Silver Spring Road and Hubin Road in the center of Whitefish Bay. In the early 1970s, the brothers took over the business.
