Before anyone else thought they were hip, the original "Nuts" introduced the neighborhood to organic and natural goods. And Nuts 'n Berries set the standard for more than 30 years. Nuts 'n Berries, like many other independent health food stores, struggled when big box stores began to dominate the market. As a result, in 2015, the original owners sold the store to two "outsiders" who had a vision for the next generation of health food stores. Mari Geier and Kevin Parker, the new owners of Nuts 'N Berries, have a different perspective on the natural foods industry than the previous proprietors. And in the new era of health and wellness, they are reinventing what it means to be an independent health food shop, a community resource, and a small business leader.
