In 1984, they started Mike Wild Game Processing at their home in Campbellsport, Wisconsin. Mike's venison processing plant is well-known and the business is getting bigger and bigger, so in the spring of 1998, an independent meat processing plant was completed. During those years, they continued to add new equipment to meet customer needs. By 1999, customers at Mike's Country Meats needed and wanted them to add sausage making as an additional service, required their state permit, and added a 500-pound smoking room. In 2002, they opened a store in Kewaskum, wholesale fresh meat and sausages. It was then that they changed their name to Mike's Country Meats, during which their beef jerky recipe was born.
