People reached out and wanted to buy seeds to support the program. Ken and co-founder Doug Muller realized that people's real interest was in buying and preserving organic heirloom seeds, so in 2009 the seed bank program ended. The seed company started. That same year, Ken and Doug began to consider how best to tell the seed story in the collection. Ken and Doug's seed collection began with oak dressers. The farm keeps Hudson Valley Seed's employees connected with tasks and with each other.
