Famoushotweiner holds a rich tradition dating back to 1923 when Nicholas E. Mavros introduced Hanover's inaugural fast food establishment. By 1928, Famoushotweiner original Famous Hot Weiner found its enduring home at the corner of York Street and Broadway. In 1957, the baton was passed to Nicholas' son and daughter-in-law, E. Tim and Georgia Mavros, who faithfully stewarded the business for the next four decades. As Hanover and its neighboring communities flourished, so did the opportunity for the third generation to expand their legacy. In May 1973, grandson Nicholas T. Mavros and son-in-law Pete G. Keriazes inaugurated Famous Hot Weiner North at the corner of Dart Drive and Eichelberger Street. Over the next 25 years, they not only sustained this new venture but also acquired the downtown location in 1995.
