Church Farm Ardeley is a community-interest, not-for-profit social enterprise whose founders set out to invent, create, and sustain small farm businesses that can be replicated. It was launched in 2008, but it took more than six years of significant losses and a steep learning curve to reach full production and just break even. Rural care and education programs are at the heart of everything they do. Church Farm Ardeley offer educational trips, internships, and programs to local schools and colleges as well as training and work experience for people with learning disabilities and/or mental health issues. In order to contribute to the upkeep and maintenance of the farm, their "Co-farmers" collaborate with their experienced staff in small mixed-ability teams on a variety of tasks tailored to individual interests, requirements, and abilities.
