L Ranch was founded in 1959 by Clinton, Allen, and L. Wayne Murphy in Idaho Falls. The family created their brand with the initials "C-A-L" of their name. Its first store, located in the town of Idaho Falls, is called C-A-L Ranch & Farm Supply. L Ranch is less than 3,000 square feet and the main products sold are farming tools and hardware tools. Since the store was very popular, it was moved to a 6,000 square foot building in the second year of operation. In the same year, the second store opened in Rexburg. In 1967, it continued to expand, acquiring farms and cities in Blackfoot, Pocatello and Burleigh stores, while expanding its range of goods, including clothing. On May 8, 1998, the store opened the first store in Utah in Logan. Between 1998 and 2002, the company opened more stores in Fokker, Fokker, False, Tours, and Cedar City, Utah.
