More than 140 years ago, a shoe-making company was established at 65 London Street, Norwich. Bowadi & Elliott founder Obadiah Bowhill bought the company from Wright & Co. in 1874. At the end of the 19th century, his business passed on to his son and son-in-law Thomas Baines Elliott. In this way, Bowhill & Elliott's partnership was formed. Under the guidance of Roger Jury, a descendant of Mr. Elliott, the family relationship continued into the new century. Bowhill and Elliott has a store that retails a large selection of women's and men's shoes including the following brands, Crockett Jones, Cheaney, Buck, Loake, Mephisto, HB Shoes, Gabor and Peter Kaiser. At the same location there is a small factory where Bowhill and Elliott produce slippers and houses, and specialize in hand-embroidered velvet houses, and make tapestries, embroidery dots or fabrics into the house.
